Top-seeded Bald Eagle Area set to face Bellefonte in District 6 championships
Bald Eagle Area wrestling is the No. 1 seed in the District 6 Class AAA Team Dual championships — and the Eagles will take on a Centre County foe in the semifinals.
BEA (13-0) faces No. 4 Bellefonte (9-4) on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Tyrone High School. It is tenatively set to begin at 2 p.m.
The winner will immediately take on the winner of No. 2 Central Mountain and No. 3 Mifflin County for a spot in the PIAA state tournament on the line. The state championships take place Feb. 8-10 at the Giant Center in Hershey.
The Eagles and Red Raiders squared off before. BEA edged Bellefonte 42-35 on Jan. 4.
Since then, the Eagles have won four team duals by a combined margin of 211-76. Meanwhile, Bellefonte has logged consecutive victories over Penns Valley, Clearfield and Central.
BEA wrestles in the Ultimate Warrior Tournament this weekend, while Bellefonte travels to Central Mountain on Monday.
