Girls’ basketball
P-O’s Herrington hands 42 on Bellefonte
PHILIPSBURG The Lady Mounties’ Halle Herrington single-handedly outscored the Bellefonte girls’ basketball team, as she netted 41 points in her team’s 75-33 win over the Lady Red Raiders on Wednesday night.
P-O led 50-19 heading into the fourth quarter, but Herrington didn’t take her foot off the gas. In the final period, she scored 18 points.
Herrington had 31 of her 42 points in the second half. Kyleigh Kennedy added 11 in the winning effort.
For Bellefonte, Abbey Bruni set the tone with a team-high nine points.
Slow start dooms Lady Rams
MARTINSBURG Penns Valley rebounded from a sluggish first half, but it was too late in a 52-38 loss to Central.
The Lady Rams scored just 11 points in the first half and trailed by 12 at halftime.
Isabella Culver paced her team with 15 points.
BEA falls
HUNTINGDON Bald Eagle Area led by double digits at halftime, but it couldn’t hold on to the lead in Huntingdon’s stunning, come-from-behind 51-38 victory.
Huntingdon outscored BEA 35-11 in the final two quarters. BEA led 27-16 at halftime.
Lacee Barnhart scored a team-high 13 points for the Lady Eagles, who were outscored 14-1 in the third quarter.
