After having a successful 2020 campaign, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy will not field a girls basketball team this season.

“Due to low participation numbers, Saint Joe’s was unable to field a Girls Basketball program this year but is looking forward to getting back in action for the 2022-23 season,” athletic director Justin Rodkey wrote in an email.

The Wolfpack had a COVID-shortened 2020 season, going 9-3 on the year and winning their first playoff game against Harmony Area 58-35. SJCA finished its season in defeat, dropping its second playoff matchup with Portage 53-37.

SJCA girls and boys soccer programs combined into a co-ed team for the 2021 fall season. Girls who wanted to continue playing during the fall joined the rest of the boys to play. They went on to win a District 6 Class 1A championship against West Shamokin by a 3-1 score and finished with a 9-11 record on the year.

The boys varsity and junior varsity basketball teams are fielding a full group of players and will not include a co-ed group this season.
