Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the Centre Daily Times sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Alex McGuire, State College ice hockey
McGuire scored on an assist by Luke Janac with 3:41 on the clock in the second period in the State College boys ice hockey team’s 3-1 victory over Westmont Hilltop on Wednesday. McGuire opened up with an even strength goal on an assist by Janac with 11:45 left in the first period. He scored another even strength goal on an assist by David Lee with 16:15 left in the first period in a 5-2 loss against Bishop McCourt on Friday.
Jade Castro, State College Swimming
Castro took first place in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 55.98 in the Bucknell Invitational on Friday. Her State College girls team defeated Mifflin County 139-17, improving to 4-0 on the year.
Noah Foltz, Bald Eagle Wrestling
Foltz had a 15-0 technical fall over Dominic Shaw in 3:27 to begin the Philipsburg-Osceola dual meet at 189 pounds. Foltz used four sets of nearfall points in the win. His Bald Eagle team lost to Clearfield (32-22) on Tuesday, but had a 47-15 victory over the Mounties on Thursday.
Philipsburg-Osceola boys basketball
Oliver Harpster and his Philipsburg-Osceola squad had a strong 71-33 victory over Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy on Friday. He led the way with 19 points, among four scorers in double figures on his team. Jacob Desimone added 16 points, Tyler Doyle had 14 and Jeremy Whitehead had 13 points. The Mounties now sit at 6-2 on the season.
Zach Braucht, Penns Valley boys basketball
Braucht had a game-high 29 points in Monday night’s 59-39 victory over Mountain League rival Bald Eagle. Braucht had a number of dunks in the game to get the crowd to rise from their seats. Penns Valley is now 2-6 on the year.
