Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the CDT sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Here are your nominees for the week of Jan. 17-22.
Jeremy Whitehead, Philipsburg-Osceola boys basketball
Whitehead finished with a team-high 21 points in a 65-53 victory over Bald Eagle on Friday. The Mounties improved to 7-4 on the season. He now sits just 77 points away from 1,000 career points in his career.
Kailen Winkelblech, Penns Valley girls basketball
Winkelblech scored 10 points in Penns Valley’s 47-23 victory against Mount Union on Tuesday. She followed up with a career-high of 28 points in a 62-46 Wednesday loss to Huntingdon. Penns Valley lost to Tyrone 58-28 and Winkelblech scored five points. The Lady Rams are now 4-8 on the year.
Mackenzie Pagett, State College girls swimming
Pagett had a win in the 50-meter freestyle (26.78) and in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:08.85). She was named as one of the swimmers of the meet by State College head coach Aaron Workman. The State College girls swim team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 114-60 victory over Chambersburg.
Philipsburg-Osceola cheerleading
The Mounties won the Mountain League championship on Saturday. The Mounties cheerleading squad added a scholastic Grand Championship to their trophy wall in the same competition.
Rees Engel and Zander Faust, State College ice hockey
The duo finished with hat tricks in State College’s 11-0 victory over Greater Johnstown. Faust’s first goal came off of an assist from Peyton Hendrick with just 1:58 off of the clock in the first period. Engel scored his first goal on an assist from Braylan Covol (7:12). Faust scored a short-handed goal in the second period (6:06). Engel’s second goal was in the third period (1:41) on assists from Gavin Smarkusky and Thomas Hay. Faust nabbed his hat trick with 2:46 on the clock in the third period on an even-strength goal. Luke Janac assisted Engel (9:49) for the Little Lions to finish with two hat tricks.
