Here’s who you named the Centre Daily Times’ Athlete of the Week for Jan. 17-22

Philipsburg-Osceola cheerleading has won the Centre Daily Times’ Athlete of the Week poll for Jan. 17-22.

The P-O cheerleaders had a late push to claim victory with 45% of the vote (1,830 votes) over State College swimmer Mackenzie Pagett.

Pagett finished second with 44% of the vote (1,801 votes). State College ice hockey players Rees Engel and Zander Faust finished third with 5% of the vote (199 votes).

P-O’s big victory came in the form of a Mountain League championship Jan. 15. The Mounties cheerleaders added another victory in the form of a scholastic Grand Championship in the same competition.

The Mounties went on to compete in the PIAA state competition on Friday, coming up just short before the semifinals.
