Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the CDT sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Alex Gavlock and Camron Watkins, Bald Eagle boys basketball

Gavlock scored 36 points and 14 rebounds, with 17 points and 6 rebounds in the week. Watkins scored 22 points and added 14 rebounds in a win vs St. Joe’s on Thursday. He went onto add 40 points and 35 rebounds in Bald Eagle’s 3-0 for the week. The Eagles defeated Clearfield 51-40 on Tuesday, Saint Joe’s by a score of 52-37 on Thursday and edged out a 33-32 victory over Penns Valley.

Ben Lee, State College ice hockey

Lee had two goals in State College’s 5-1 victory against Hollidaysburg on Thursday. His first goal came with 10:24 remaining in the second period off of an assist from Peyton Hendrick to finish on a wraparound shot. His second goal was in the third period with assists from Sam Palmer and Alex McGuire (10:07) for a 3-1 lead.

Blair Eckley-Jones, Bellefonte boys basketball

Eckley-Jones scored a team-high 28 points in Bellefonte’s 54-48 victory over Jersey Shore on Thursday. His Bellefonte squad won 67-51 on Friday and he led the team with 20 points.

Jade Castro, State College swimming

Castro won the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:08.22 against Hershey. She followed with a victory in the 100-meter backstroke (57.58). State College defeated Hershey 97-86 on Tuesday.

Kailen Winkelblech, Penns Valley girls basketball

Winkelblech had 18 points in a 47-36 victory over Bellefonte on Monday. She scored a game-high 20 points in a 53-24 win over Penns Valley on Wednesday. The Penns Valley senior added 18 points in a 51-46 loss to Bald Eagle on Thursday. She led the team with 13 points in a 48-39 loss to Saint Mary’s on Friday.

Penns Valley wrestling

Penns Valley claimed victory over Hollidaysburg, 51-15, on Tuesday. They went to Grove City for the Fred Bell Tournament on Friday and Saturday winning the team title with 157.5 points. The paced second place Pine Richland by 26.5 points.
