Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the CDT sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Here are your nominees for the week of March 28-April 2.

Chad Muckey, Philipsburg-Osceola boys track and field

Muckey’s 3200-meter time of 10:18.38 shattered a school record in P-O’s track meet against Huntingdon and Hollidaysburg on March 29. Hollidaysburg finished with a 112 score against P-O’s 38. Huntingdon scored 101 points.

Dominic Capperella, Bellefonte baseball

Capperella threw Centre County’s first no-hitter of the baseball season in Bellefonte’s 12-0 victory over Huntingdon on March 30. The junior pitcher tossed five innings, while striking out eight batters and walking none. The Red Raiders are now 2-1 on the season.

Ella Underwood, Bellefonte girls track and field

Underwood finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 73-04 to score three points in Bellefonte’s meet with Brookville and Selinsgrove on Saturday. She followed up with a 28-08.50 throw in the shot put, winning the event and scoring five points. The senior thrower finished second in the girls javelin with a toss of 88-11 and scoring three additional points.

Maddie Rottkamp, State College lacrosse

Rottkamp was instrumental in State College’s 17-1 dismantling of Mechanicsburg on March 31. She had four goals and two assists in the victory. State College is now 1-1 on the year.
