Who should be the Centre Daily Times Boys Athlete of the Week for May 2-7?
Editor’s note: The Centre Daily Times will publish a weekly poll on Monday mornings for readers to choose the Athlete of the Week for the previous week of competition. The poll will close at noon Friday.
Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times boys high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the CDT sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Alexander Ebeling, Bellefonte baseball
Ebeling went 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBI in Bellefonte’s 6-2 win over Hollidaysburg on May 3. He followed up by notching three hits in the Red Raiders’ 17-0 victory against Clearfield on May 5.
Cooper Brushwood, State College boys lacrosse
Brushwood had three goals and one assist in State College’s 15-4 victory over Cedar Cliff on May 3. He went on to score two goals and pick up an assist in a 10-3 win against Lower Dauphin on May 5.
Daniel Xu, State College tennis
Xu held a regular season record of 14-0 and was the winner of the team high academic award with a 4.89 GPA. He wasn’t available for individual District 6 Class 3A championships due to taking six AP exams during the week and is set to attend Columbia University in the fall.
Hayden Houser, Penns Valley baseball
Houser had three hits in a 9-7 Rams victory over Juniata on May 2. He went 2-for-4 from the plate in Penns Valley’s 7-5 loss to Bald Eagle on May 3. Houser drove in three runs in a 10-8 victory over Huntingdon on May 5.
Jason Dreibelbis, Saint Joe’s baseball
Dreibelbis pitched a shutout in the second game of Saint Joe’s doubleheader, allowing three hits while walking a batter and striking out a batter in a 6-0 victory over Williamsburg on May 2.
