Here’s who you named the Centre Daily Times’ Boys and Girls Athlete of the Week for Sept. 5-12

A State College athlete and a Bellefonte athlete were named the Centre Daily Times Boys and Girls Athletes of the Week for Sept. 5-12.

In the boys’ poll, State College football’s D’Antae Sheffey won with 47% of the vote (18,016 votes) and was trailed by Bald Eagle football’s Kahale Burns in second with 43% of the vote (16,712 votes). Philipsburg-Osceola boys soccer’s Carson Long finished third with 6% of the vote (2,503 votes).

Sheffey had a career day with 17 carries for 207 yards and three rushing touchdowns in State College’s 45-3 victory over Hollidaysburg on Sept. 9.

In the girls’ poll, Bellefonte girls soccer’s Keira Whitman won with 57% of the vote (19,136 votes). Philipsburg-Osceola volleyball’s Reese Hazelton had 43% of the vote (14,325 votes) to finish second, while Quiana Guo of State College tennis had 100 votes (~1%).

Whitman had five saves and allowed one goal in Bellefonte’s 1-0 loss to Bald Eagle (Sept. 6). The goalkeeper had five saves and a shutout in her team’s 1-0 win against Huntingdon.
