Here’s who you named the Centre Daily Times’ Boys and Girls Athlete of the Week for Sept. 27-Oct. 4

A Philipsburg-Osceola athlete and a Penns Valley athlete were named the Centre Daily Times Boys and Girls Athletes of the Week for Sept. 27-Oct. 4.

In the boys’ poll, Philipsburg-Osceola football and soccer’s Carson Long won with 51% of the vote (3,450 votes). Bellefonte cross country’s Chase Ebeling finished second with 19% of the vote (1,289 votes) and Penns Valley football’s Ty Watson had 15% of the vote (1,035 votes) for third place.

Long and Philipsburg-Osceola boys soccer beat Cambria Heights 4-1 on Sept. 29. He scored each of the team’s four goals with assists by Matt Eirich, Zach Mcmonigle and Nate Mostyn for his team to improve to 2-6-2. On the football team, Long went on to convert two extra points for P-O on Sept. 30 as the Mounties fell 41-14 to Penns Valley.

In the girls’ poll, Penns Valley soccer’s Nicole Denger won with 43% of the vote (3,946 votes). She was trailed by Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy golf’s Madison Koshko, who had 34% of the vote (3,078 votes) and Penns Valley volleyball’s Ella Hadley finished third with 12% of the vote (1,069 votes).

Penns Valley fell 3-2 to Clearfield on Sept. 27, but Denger had a goal for two points. All three of her shots were shots on goal.
