The final week of Centre County high school football’s regular season is in the books.
State College capped off an undefeated regular season with a 36-6 win over Chambersburg. Bald Eagle took down Purchase Line with a 19-0 victory. Bellefonte fell 41-3 to Brookville. Penns Valley won 42-0 over Bellwood-Antis. Philipsburg-Osceola capped off its season with the team’s second victory in a row, a 56-34 victory over Ridgway-Johnsonburg.
Here are five takeaways from Week 10 of the 2022 high school football season in Centre County:
Bald Eagle shuts down Purchase Line
The Eagles were able to blank Purchase Line by a score of 19-0 on Friday, improving their record to 7-3 for the regular season. Not only did Bald Eagle finish with a shutout, but all of the team’s points came within five minutes of the second quarter. Cameron Dubbs had a 20-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 20-yard Carson Nagle pass to Wyatt Spackman, followed by a Gavin Eckley 55-yard touchdown on an interception.
Bellefonte finishes the year
Brookville defeated Bellefonte 41-3 on Friday. The Red Raiders went 1-9 this season. It was a tough year for the team, but there could be a bright future ahead with Liam Halterman and Trevor Johnson at quarterback.
Penns Valley bullies Bellwood-Antis
Bellwood-Antis had a 6-3 record before its game against Penns Valley. The Rams crushed the Blue Devils, making two interceptions for a touchdown and picking off quarterback Gaven Ridgway a total of times. Ty Watson had a rushing touchdown and Miles Brooks scored three total touchdowns — one interception returned for a touchdown and two receiving touchdowns. Penns Valley quarterback Jackson Romig had three touchdown passes to cap off his regular season.
Philipsburg-Osceola ends its year on a high note
State College caps off an undefeated regular season
The Little Lions finished off their regular season schedule with a 36-7 victory over Chambersburg on the road on Friday. State College has everything to look forward to ahead of the playoffs — records, high expectations and possibly a championship. They’ve outscored opponents 388-148 and have held them to 20 or less points eight times this season. Now, the Little Lions will wait two weeks ahead of the Division 6 Class 6A playoffs with an automatic bid to the championship game on Nov. 11.
