Tre Greene is someone that is attentive to minutia of football.

The senior running back and linebacker is hailed as a “coach on the field” by Bald Eagle Area head coach Jesse Nagle and someone who is “equally dangerous on offense as he is on defense” by athletic director Doug Dyke. For his contributions on both sides of the ball in 2022, the CDT has selected Greene for the Iron Man Award, part of All-Centre Team lists.

The award is earned by the player who excelled the most on both sides of the ball. Greene led his team in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns on offense and forced fumbles and tackles on defense to be selected the Iron Man.

“It really feels good to know that all of the hard work paid off, but it’s not all me,” Greene said. “A lot of credit goes to my teammates and my coaches and everyone who’s helped pushed me along the way... I consider myself more of a defensive guy. I like flying around and making plays.”

As a running back, the senior carried the ball 108 times for 820 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, along with nine catches for 141 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Greene had 100 total tackles (69 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and one returned for a touchdown, along with two forced fumbles.

He was named to both the offensive and defensive All-Centre teams in 2022.

Nagle has watched Greene consistently grow as a leader during his time with the Eagles. He’s has exceeded the expectations Nagle had for him and left his mark on Bald Eagle football for years to come.

“It’s awesome. He’s a great kid,” Nagle said. “First and foremost off the field, he’s such a tremendous kid. (He’s) a leader, on and off of the field. He’s done more than he would ever even know for our program — being a leader in the weight room and on the field. So, to win an award like this, he’s really deserving. He’s put in the time and the work. On both sides of the football, he’s been a killer for the last couple of years. This is something that he definitely needs to be proud of and we’re proud of for him.”

Dyke coached Greene in elementary school basketball and remembered him as a “hardworking, outgoing kid.”

“This year, in my mind, he took a huge jump,” Dyke said. “It’s not that I didn’t think he was good last year... The way he hits people for his size, he really lays people out. Offensively, I feel like he really came into his own this year. He showed speed that I didn’t even know that he had. He works in my office and he’s a kid I can count on when I really need something done and done right.”

Greene completes his career with 110 carries for 826 rushing yards (7.5 yards per carry), three games over 100 yards, eight rushing touchdowns, nine receptions, 141 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns on offense. On defense, he had 149 total tackles (105 solo), 19.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, three recoveries and one pass deflection.
