State College running back receives first Division 1 offer from Syracuse

A Centre County freshman running back has received his first Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offer.

State College’s D’Antae Sheffey announced Friday afternoon that Syracuse offered him a scholarship. The first-year varsity player put together a year to remember and culminated with an appearance in the PIAA Class 6A semifinals. He had 59 carries for 473 rushing yards (8.02 yards per carry) and three touchdowns in four postseason games.

Sheffey was one of two Co-Offensive Players of the Year for Centre Daily Times’ All-Centre Team. He was additionally named as a PA Football News First-Team All-State selection for Class 6A. The freshman running back had 223 carries for 1725 rushing yards (7.7 yards per carry) and 22 rushing touchdowns, along with 17 receptions for 167 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 14 games with the Little Lions in 2022.
