State title games for Bald Eagle Area, Bellefonte baseball postponed due to rain
Bald Eagle Area and Bellefonte will have to wait one more day to see if they can seize a state championship.
The PIAA announced Friday morning it postponed all three remaining title games until Saturday, meaning the Class 2A, Class 4A and Class 6A matchups were all rained out. The times will remain the same, along with the venue in Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
“We believe placing teams in ideal conditions will be in the best interest of all involved to participate in a championship contest,” the PIAA wrote in a statement posted on social media.
Bald Eagle Area (21-4) is set to take on Mount Union (25-2) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Class 2A championship, and Bellefonte (19-5) will square off against Dallas (18-8) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Class 4A championship. In the Class 6A championship, which doesn’t involve a Centre County team, Father Judge (24-2) will take on Mount Lebanon (17-10) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
No Centre County baseball team has come away with a state title since Bellefonte in 2016, when the Red Raiders blanked Susquehanna Township 2-0. And two Centre County teams have never won a state baseball title in the same year.
