Poll results: Bellefonte girls’ soccer player selected as CDT Athlete of the Week
A Bellefonte soccer player is the girls’ athlete of the week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1, according to readers of CentreDaily.com.
Bellefonte soccer went 3-0 during that week and was led by goalkeeper Keira Whitman. The senior captain only gave up one goal in the team’s three matches. She’s saved 62 of the 69 shots she’s faced in 11 games, with a goals against average of 0.663.
With 2,328 votes, Whitman easily came in first place in the poll, with 62% of the vote.
Here’s a look at the other nominees:
Hannah Kopac, State College golf: State College golf won the team title at the District 6 championships during the week, defeating Hollidaysburg and Altoona, with Hannah Kopac leading the team and finishing second overall in the individual title race. She came in second in the poll, with 705 votes, or 19% of the vote.
Maddie Koshko, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy golf: Maddie Koshko won the girls’ individual District 6 title in Class AA during the week. Koshko competes with the boys’ golf team and helped the group finish second in the District 6 Championships. She’s a two-time District 6 girls’ individual champion and is only a sophomore.
Adrienne Hacker, Bald Eagle soccer: Bald Eagle soccer had one win and one draw during the week and Adrienne Hacker scored a majority of the team’s six goals. Hacker scored one goal in the team’s win over Somerset and three in the 3-3 double overtime draw against Forest Hills.
Ella Hadley, Penns Valley volleyball: Penns Valley volleyball’s Ella Hadley broke a school record during the week when she and the Rams took on Bellwood-Antis. She set the new single match school record for kills with 28 during the team’s five-set victory.
Chloe Matson, Philipsburg-Osceola soccer: Philipsburg-Osceola soccer picked up a 4-2 win over Richland with one player scoring three of the team’s four goals. Chloe Matson scored a hat trick to help her team earn the win over the Rams.
