Results: Penns Valley runner selected as Centre Daily Times athlete of the week
A Penns Valley cross-country runner was selected by readers of CentreDaily.com as the athlete of the week for Oct. 16-22.
Ayva Fetterolf medaled for Penns Valley at the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships in the rain and wind at the Maple Crest Golf Club in Portage on Oct. 21. Fetteroff finished 18th out of 126 runners to lead Penns Valley.
She had 7,317 votes in the poll, or 54% of the vote.
Here’s a look at the other nominees:
Alex Lefebvre, Bald Eagle football: Bald Eagle football dominated on its way to a 42-0 victory over Bellwood-Antis. Alex Lefebvre had a big day, earning a strip fumble he returned for a touchdown, hauling in an interception and totaling eight tackles, four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He came in second in the poll with 6,024 votes, or 45%.
Maddie Koshko, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy: The 2023 PIAA Girls Golf AA State Individual Championships saw Maddie Koshko of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy put on another top performance. Koshko finished fifth in this year’s event after finishing sixth last year. The sophomore shot a 74 on both days of the event and was named the Tri Valley Athletic Association League MVP.
Taven Price and Dilon Reilly, Penns Valley boys’ cross country: Penns Valley boys’ cross country had Taven Price and Dilon Reilly medal at the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the Maple Crest Golf Club in Portage. Despite rainy and windy conditions, Price and Reilly finished 14th and 15th, respectively, out of 158 runners.
