Poll results: Bellefonte wrestler selected as Centre County athlete of the week for Jan. 8-14
A wrestler for the Red Raiders was the Centre County athlete of the week for Jan. 8-14, according to readers of CentreDaily.com.
During that week, Bellefonte wrestling’s Noah Weaver dominated the Southern Tier Tournament on his way to winning it. The Raider captain outscored his opponents 42-2 during the tournament.
Of the 1,461 votes cast in the poll, Weaver had 91% of the vote.

Cam Watkins, Bald Eagle boys’ basketball: Bald Eagle boys’ basketball’s Cam Watkins had a big week for the Eagles in matchups with Penns Valley and Moshannon Valley. Watkins had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds against the Rams. He also had 17 points and six rebounds against Moshannon Valley while shooting 56% from the field in the two games.
Jayden Stamm, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy boys’ basketball: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy boys’ basketball has the TVAA leading scorer on its team in sophomore Jayden Stamm. He’s averaging 18.5 points per game and had 17 points against Halifax and 10 points against Line Mountain. Stamm is also seventh in the league in steals with 22, as of last week.
Naomi Crispin, St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy girls’ basketball: St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy girls’ basketball remains undefeated after beating Line Mountain. Sophomore Naomi Crispin scored 25 points, dished out 17 assists and had three steals in the win. Crispin is leading the TVAA in scoring with an average of 22.7 points per game. She also leads in assists with 39 and free throw percentage at 82%.
