Centre County wrestling teams set to get postseason started with District 6 Championships

It’s hard to believe that another high school wrestling season has come and gone.

The District 6 Championships in Altoona are the first step toward the PIAA Championships in Hershey for Centre County’s teams.

Bald Eagle Area, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola kick things off first in the Class 2A tournament, which gets started on Friday morning. Bellefonte and State College will join them on Saturday morning when the Class 3A field gets underway.

Here’s a look at how each county team stacks up:

Bald Eagle Area’s Caleb Close looks for an opening on Tyrone’s Kyle Scott in their 189-pound finals match of the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championships on Jan. 4 at Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg. Close defeated Scott, 6-1.
