First round of PIAA baseball, softball playoffs: See scores from Centre County teams

Five Centre County baseball and softball teams made it to the PIAA State Championships, which began on Monday.

But only Bald Eagle Area softball will advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals after defeating Avonworth, 8-2, at home. The Lady Eagles will face St. Mary’s at Heindl Field in Dubois on their quest to the championship game, which will be held June 13 at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Softball Park.
