Centre County high school football in full swing Week 2. See local scores, highlights

D’Antae Sheffey and Connor Kulka propelled State College to its second victory of the season Friday night while Philipsburg-Osceola picked up a conference win Friday night as high school football was in full swing across Centre County.

Here are the highlights from local games covered by After The Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.

State College 37, Altoona 7: Syracuse commit Sheffey ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns while Kulka impressed with 160 passing yards and two touchdowns to help take down turnover-plagued Altoona. Kulka had two first-half touchdown passes, including a 42-yard strike to Daimear Coad.

Philipsburg-Osceola 20, Chestnut Ridge 14: Philipsburg-Osceola running back Damarcus Law scored on a rushing touchdown as the Mountaineers beat the Lions 20-14 to move to 2-0 on the season. The game marked the first time in eight years these teams had faced each other.

Forest Hills 35, Bellefonte 0: In the first-ever meeting between Forest Hills and Bellefonte, Xander Richardson scored twice in the first half as Forest Hills built a 28-0 first-half lead and cruised from there. Bellefonte dropped to 1-1.

Penn Cambria 47, Bald Eagle Area 24: Penn Cambria also got its second win of the season, as Brady Jones connected with Blake Lilly for a touchdown as time expired in the first half to put the Panthers up 33-3. Jones had a part in five touchdowns on the evening.

Central Cambria 16, Penns Valley 14: Central Cambria held on to win to give Wade Klezek his first victory as head coach. Ryan Chappell raced through Penns Valley defenders for a 48-yard touchdown run to put the Red Devils up early in the game.

D’Antae Sheffey, RB, State College: Sheffey continues to dominate so far this season, getting 195 yards and two touchdowns this week.

Kaleb Irion, QB, Bald Eagle Area: Irion threw for two touchdowns against Penn Cambria including a 41-yard deep ball in the first half.
