Centre County high school football rolls on Week 3. See local scores, highlights

It took Harrisburg two overtimes to get past State College on Friday in a wild game with 93 total points, while 274 yards on the ground propelled Bald Eagle Area to a victory over Penns Valley.

Here are the highlights from local games covered by After the Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.

Harrisburg 48, State College 45 (2OT): Princeton Dent rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown to propel the Cougars to a 48-45 win over the Little Lions. Despite Connor Kulka’s three total touchdowns and a miraculous fumble recovery on a two-point conversion, the Harrisburg offense proved too much for the State College defense as Jaiyon Lewis walked it off with a 5-yard rushing touchdown.

Bishop Guilfoyle 7, Bellefonte 0: Bishop Guilfoyle, led by its stifling defense, was able to defeat the Bellefonte Red Raiders in a nail-biting 7-0 game. Jake Kissell’s rushing touchdown for the Marauders was the lone score in a game controlled by the defenses for both teams.

Bald Eagle Area 21, Penns Valley 0: Bald Eagle Area’s Grady Fisher rushed for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the Eagles’ 21-0 win over the Rams. Nate McCulley added 175 yards, while averaging 6.25 yards-per-carry in a dominant rushing performance.

Clearfield 27, Phillipsburg-Osceola 15: Colton Ryan ran for two scores as Clearfield beat Philipsburg-Osceola 27-15. Xavier Curry added a rushing touchdown of his own in the victory. Damarcus Law scored for the Mountaineers midway through the second quarter, but P-O’s offense was largely stifled outside of that.
