Curtin Bowl, P-O highlight Week 6 of Centre County HS football. See scores, highlights

Robert McClenahan’s interception with less than 16 seconds left in the game Friday sealed a 31-28 win for Philipsburg-Osceola over Bellwood-Antis, while Bald Eagle Area reclaimed the Curtin Bowl trophy from Bellefonte with a 19-14 rivalry game victory on the road.

Here are the highlights from local games covered by After the Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.

Philipsburg-Osceola 31, Bellwood-Antis 28: The Mounties held a 17-7 lead at the half behind two rushing touchdowns from running back Colton Chapman and a 31-14 lead in the fourth quarter before the Blue Devils mounted a comeback. Bellwood-Antis scored two touchdowns in the final 7:35 to pull within three and drove in the final minute to try to get into field goal range, before quarterback Brayden Partner threw an interception. The Philipsburg-Osceola defense finished with three fumble recoveries and four total takeaways to help snap a two-game losing streak against Bellwood-Antis.

State College 41, Central Dauphin 13: The Little Lions defeated the Rams for the fourth straight year. Quarterback Connor Kulka threw for three passing touchdowns, including a 38-yard strike. Syracuse commit D’Antae Sheffey ran for two touchdowns in the 41-13 win.

Clearfield 46, Penns Valley 14: Clearfield’s Cooper Broad rushed for a 79-yard touchdown and caught four passes for 156 yards and another score as the Bison cruised to a win over the Rams. Spencer Althouse put the first points on the board for Penns Valley with a 74-yard kick return for a touchdown. But the Rams were held to 92 yards on the ground and 81 yards through the air.

Bald Eagle Area 19, Bellefonte 14: BEA got an early 5-0 lead on a first-quarter safety and a field goal as it reclaimed the Curtin Bowl trophy. The Red Raiders’ Kaven Smith-Kirk scored the first touchdown of the night on a 5-yard run, but Bald Eagle Area responded with a Grady Fisher touchdown pass, and later went up 19-7 and then held on.

Connor Kulka, QB, State College: Kulka threw for three touchdowns, his longest a 38-yard pass.

Spencer Althouse, WR, Penns Valley: Althouse barreled through defenders for a 74-yard kick return touchdown.

Gradyn Fisher, QB, Bald Eagle Area: Fisher rushed 22 times for 79 yards.

Colton Chapman, RB, Philipsburg-Osceola: Chapman carried 32 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns and also recovered a fumble on defense.
