What to know from Week 7 of Centre County HS football: Scores, highlights, key players
Syracuse commit D’Antae Sheffey ran for three touchdowns Friday to lift State College over Cedar Cliff 36-21 while Central secured the 26-25 comeback win against Penns Valley.
Here are the highlights from local games covered by After the Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.
Clearfield 12, Bald Eagle Area 6: Clearfield’s defense held BEA to two field goals on the night. Quarterback Xavier Curry opened the scoring for the Bison with a 65-yard rushing touchdown and finished with more than 100 rushing yards on the night. Clearfield senior running back Colton Ryan contributed 47 rushing yards in the first half.
Bellefonte 24, Philipsburg-Osceola 15: The Red Raiders were able to muscle out a win over an aggressive P-O that blocked a punt and kick. Bellefonte RB Ka’Ven Smith-Kirk and quarterback Quinn Park generated much of the offense, combining for 42 carries, 174 rushing yards and two touchdowns. P-O’s offense racked up 181 total yards, with quarterback Archer Baughman throwing for 102 of them.
Central 26, Penns Valley 25: The Central Dragons were down 11 points in the fourth quarter after a back-and-forth first half. After a fumble in the first quarter, Central wingback Carter Schenk got his redemption by scoring the game-winning touchdown on an 8-yard pass with 18 seconds left. Schenk rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns while quarterback Jesse Muthler went 17 of 26 with 186 yards and a touchdown.
State College 36, Cedar Cliff 21: The Little Lions had a 20-14 lead at the half before taking off as Connor Kulka passed for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Hank Lustig intercepted the ball near the end of the game to clinch the victory.

Ka’Ven Smith-Kirk, RB, Bellefonte: Smith-Kirk had 22 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown.
D’Antae Sheffey, RB, State College: Sheffey rushed 19 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns.
Fletcher Ironside, WR, Penns Valley: Ironside made six receptions for 98 yards. He also had a 80-yard kickoff return.
Aaron Davis, LB, Philipsburg-Osceola: Davis had 10 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks for the Mountaineers.
