What to know from Week 8 of Centre County HS football: Scores, highlights, key players
Bald Eagle Area’s offense racked up 333 total yards in a 28-0 win over Westmont Hilltop on Friday, while State College rolled on at home over Central Dauphin East.
Here are the highlights from local games covered by After the Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.
State College 39, Central Dauphin East 14: Running back D’Antae Sheffey opened the scoring against Central Dauphin East with a 10-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The Syracuse commit started fast and never let up as he rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Connor Kulka hit wide receiver Daimear Coad for one of his two touchdown passes to close the first half. Junior AJ Fry had two interceptions and forced a fumble on defense. Central Dauphin East quarterback Anthony Chase ran for 141 yards on the night and scored both of the Panthers’ touchdowns.
Bishop McCort 42, Philipsburg-Osceola 0: The Crushers stayed undefeated as they scored five touchdowns in the first half and cruised from there. Brady Paige ran for a touchdown with two minutes left in the first half to cap the flurry of TDs and make it 35-0.
Richland 33, Bellefonte 29: The Red Raiders started off hot against their conference opponents, with a 66-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Quinn Park. But Richland was able to sneak away with its seventh victory after a last-minute fumble ended Bellefonte’s final drive. Bellefonte wide receiver Ashten Howell gained more than 100 total yards and scored two touchdowns.
Bald Eagle Area 28, Westmont Hilltop 0: Bald Eagle Area bested Westmont Hilltop in a shutout victory as the Eagles rushed for three early touchdowns to take a 21-0 lead at the half. BEA found the end zone one last time as Kollin Cunningham connected with Jackson Millward on a 55-yard touchdown to seal the game.
Penns Valley 27, Greater Johnstown 24: Penns Valley played on Thursday, when it got its first win of the season against Greater Johnstown.
