What you missed this week in Centre County high school sports: Feb. 19, 2026

Bald Eagle Area’s Dawson Lomison took the 152-pound title while Penns Valley’s Conner Myers won at 127 at the District 6 Class 2A individual wrestling championships over the weekend.

Multiple boys basketball games also came down to the wire with Penns Valley taking a 75-74 win against Richland and Bald Eagle Area winning 48-42 over Philipsburg-Osceola.

Here are the highlights from local games covered from Feb. 12-18 by After the Whistle, the high school sports coverage team at Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications.

Boys Wrestling

District 6 Class 2A individual championships (Feb. 13-14)

Penns Valley (195 points, 2nd overall): Penns Valley finished second behind Bishop McCort’s 321 points, powered by a strong run through the middle weights. Conner Myers captured the 127-pound title, and the Rams added third-place finishes from Evan Lisowski (114) and Tripp Watson (139) to stay comfortably ahead of most of the field.

Bald Eagle Area (148.5 points, 3rd overall): Bald Eagle Area put multiple wrestlers into title bouts and placed third overall. Dawson Lomison won the championship at 152, while Tanner Guenot finished as the runner-up at 133 and Caden Judice took second at 145. In the heavyweight bracket, Gage Gardner reached the finals and placed second at 285.

Philipsburg-Osceola (128 points, 6th overall): The Mounties placed sixth overall as Caleb Hummel delivered a big lift with a third-place finish at 121. P-O also got points from Brody Jasper, who won the fifth-place bout at 172.

Boys Basketball

Bald Eagle Area 48, Philipsburg-Osceola 42 (Feb. 13): After being down for most of the game, Bald Eagle Area had an impressive comeback against the Mountaineers on Friday. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles scored 23 points led by junior James Cowan. Cowan scored nine points in the last eight minutes.

Penns Valley 75, Richland 74 (Feb. 16): Penns Valley’s Spencer Althouse and Noah Patel both had 20-point nights, leading the charge in the Rams’ one-point victory. Despite Richland’s 38-27 halftime lead, Penns Valley started the third quarter on a hot streak. The Rams didn’t take a permanent lead until the final 22 seconds when Althouse fought through contact to score and advance Penns Valley to the District 6 Class 3A quarterfinals against Forest Hills on Feb. 19.

Girls Basketball

State College 51, Mifflin County 18 (Feb. 16): On Monday night, the Wilson twins put on a show on their home court to get a dominant win over the Huskies. Sheree Wilson had 13 for the Lady Little Lions while Sienna Wilson led the team in scoring with 16. State College kept its foot on the gas the entire game, scoring 21 in the first half and 30 in the second half. With the win, State High will travel to Mount Aloysius on Feb. 19 for the District 6 Class 6A title game. State College will face Altoona, whom they it to twice in the regular season.

Hockey

State College 4, Hollidaysburg 1 (Feb. 17): The State College Little Lions spoiled senior night for the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers. Seven minutes into the first period, Shane Bader struck first with his unassisted goal for State College. The second period saw more action with two more scores from State College and one from Hollidaysburg. The final goal came in the third period from David Wilson, scoring off the redirect from Maya Felix. State College also had a big showing on defense, as goaltender Bryan Bucher saved 26 of 27 shots on the night.
