State College’s PIAA first-round game set for Saturday

The State College football team will face Erie McDowell at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clarion University in the first round of the PIAA Class AAAA playoffs, according to the schedule announced Sunday.

The Little Lions (8-3) had a week off after beating DuBois 41-7 in the District 6-9 final. McDowell (7-5) beat Brashear 42-2 in the District 8-10 final Friday night.

It is a rematch of last year’s first-round game, which State College won 27-6.
