Irwin leads State College to win over Carlisle

Kyla Irwin’s 30 points led State College to a 63-18 victory over Carlisle on Tuesday night.

Irwin hit 12 field goals and went 6 of 7 from the line.

State College coach Bethany Irwin felt that Kayla Hawbaker set the tempo early in the game. Hawbaker finished the game with 12 points.

State College entered halftime with a 37-5 edge on the scoreboard. Despite the comfortable lead, Irwin wanted her team to keep up the intensity it had shown through the first half.

“With the injuries we’ve had, we had to keep focus,” Irwin said.

The players responded by outscoring Carlisle 17-5 in the third quarter.

State College improved its record to 3-0 with the victory.
