Penns Valley rallies past Philipsburg-Osceola

Haylee Hayward scored 25 points for Philipsburg-Osceola, but it wasn’t enough as the Penns Valley girls’ basketball team came away with a 54-45 victory on Monday night.

Hayward scored 17 points in the first half to help the Lady Mounties take a 22-15 halftime lead. But the Lady Rams outscored Philipsburg-Osceola by 11 points in the third quarter to take the lead.

Penns Valley coach Karen McCaffrey said Kourtney Beamesderfer held Hayward to eight points in the second half. The junior also had five steals and six assists.

Peyton Homan led the Lady Rams with 16 points and six rebounds, and Mackenzie Ironside added 12.

Penns Valley will travel to Central on Friday.
