Penns Valley boys’ basketball routs Bellefonte

Propelled by a 31-point second half, Penns Valley rolled over Bellefonte 48-24 on Tuesday.

The Rams only held a six-point lead at halftime, though, and Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt said that was due in large part to his defense lacking intensity.

That changed after the break.

“Our defense played with a lot more energy in the second half,” Glunt said. “That helped create more separation.”

Scoring-wise, Penns Valley was led by Logan Pearce’s 14 points. Zach Engle and Ben Alexander also chipped in 11 points each for the Rams.

Bellefonte’s leading scorer was Hunter Knisely, who hit four field goals for 10 points.

Penns Valley is now 7-1 on the season, and play Mifflinburg on Tuesday. Bellefonte is 2-5, and don’t play until Jan. 6, when the Red Raiders travel to Tyrone.
