A solid team effort both offensively and defensively helped State College girls’ basketball to a 52-42 victory over Central Dauphin East on Friday.
“It was an all-out brawl and great team effort,” State College coach Bethany Irwin said. “Every single player played their hearts out.”
Irwin cited foul shooting and junior Abby Allen as keys to the win.
“We lost our defensive specialist Casey Witter to an injury and Abby really stepped up for us on defense,” Irwin said.
Allen also finished with a career-high 10 points. Teammates Kayla Hawbaker and Kyla Iwin added 10 and 19 points, respectively.
The team was 13 for 16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, capping an impressive 21 for 28 overall performance.
State College (10-2, 6-2 Mid Penn) will travel to Cumberland Valley on Tuesday.
