P-O boys’ basketball wins first home game in three years
The Philipsburg-Osceola boys’ basketball team won its first home game in three years, beating Bald Eagle Area 84-76 on Wednesday.
“We finally put a game together, everyone from freshman to senior played well,” P-O coach Matt Curtis said. “It was just a great win for a program on the rise”
Mounties senior Payton Guelich was one of four players with a career-high night. Guelich scored 24 points, while Caleb Belinda and freshman Carson Jones scored 17 and 14 points, respectively.
P-O’s Marcus Wiser, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, recorded a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks.
Bald Eagle Area’s Trey Butterworth scored 40 points, including six 3-pointers.
“He took and made every single shot he put up,” Curtis said.
BEA will host Central, while P-O (2-12) will travel to Penns Valley on Friday.
