Little Lions fall to Jersey Shore in wrestling

State College fell to Jersey Shore 36-27 on Wednesday night, dropping its record to 7-12 on the season.

The Little Lions found themselves in an early hole after Cole Urbas (170 pounds) and Bobby Bendik (182) fell by decision and major decision, respectively, in the match’s first two bouts.

State College rebounded, though, with a trio of pins and a victory by forfeit. Cory Dreibelbis (195), Pete Haffner (220) and Adam Stover (113) all handled their opponents.

But then Jersey Shore went on a roll. The Bulldogs won six of the final seven bouts, with State College’s only triumph coming at 145 pounds by Dalton Barger.

The Little Lions’ next match is at home against Mifflin County on Thursday.
