Ripka leads Penns Valley past Central
The Penns Valley girls’ basketball team earned a 59-44 win over Central on Wednesday night, thanks in large part to Karli Ripka’s consistency at the free-throw line.
Ripka led all scorers with 22 points, and connected on 16 of 19 attempts from the charity stripe.
Penns Valley coach Karen McCaffrey was happy for Ripka, who needed preseason knee surgery and only recently returned to the court.
“She fought hard to get back, and I’m proud of her to have a game like this,” McCaffrey said. “She was definitely our floor leader tonight.”
Trailing Ripka closely behind in the scorebook was center Maci Ilgen. The 5-foot-9 junior had 19 points on nine field goals.
The Lady Rams (13-4) travel to Huntingdon on Friday.
