State College, St. Joseph’s excel at Susquehanna University Invitational

State College boys’ and girls’ track & field had 10 first-place finishes, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy placed several participants in Sunday’s Susquehanna University Invitational.

Along with first-place finishes, the Little Lions set two new meet records. State College’s 4x800 meter relay team of Nick Feffer, Joey Feffer, Tony Degleris and Alex Milligan posted a time of 8:07.65, while Griffin Thompson’s mark in the pole vault (15’ 0’’) established a new standard.

The State College boys had four other first-place marks. Tristan Daman’s time of 23.20 was unmatched in the 200 meter dash, Kellin Valentine dominated the long jump posting a 21’ 3’’, and Erik Ebel’s toss of 49’ 3.5’’ topped all competition in the shot put.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Milligan, Degleris, Noah Osterling and Aziz Salamy was also untouched with a time of 3:30.29.

For the State College girls, Rachel Wylie’s time of 9.39 was good for first in the 60 meter hurdles, Taylor Givens commanded the long jump (18’ 4.5’’), Nika Karpenko dictated the triple jump (36’ 11.5’’), and Jordan Bair led the shot put (36’ 5’’).

The SJCA girls’ team was also represented well. Lucia Person and Sera Mazza placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the mile run, while the 4x800 meter relay team of Julia Cusatis, Kate Ott, Lindsey Carmack and Jordan Wiser posted a third-place time of 10:46.26.

For the Wolves, Eli Urban finished eighth in the 3000 meter with a 9:48.33 mark.
