Irwin scores career-high 43 to lift State College to win
Kyla Irwin scored a career-high 43 points to lead the State College girls’ basketball team to a 67-59 win over Mifflin County on Tuesday night.
Irwin finished with 17 field goals, including two 3-pointers, and went 7 for 8 from the free-throw line. The Lady Little Lions took an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter and held on for the win.
“We knew it was going to be a close barnburner,” State College coach Bethany Irwin said. “... They shot the lights out.”
Abby Allen added 15 points for State College.
“It was a tough win,” Irwin said.
The Lady Little Lions (15-3) host Altoona on Thursday.
