Philipsburg-Osceola ends regular season with wrestling win

Philipsburg-Osceola rolled to a 55-7 wrestling victory Tuesday, earning pins at three weights against Northern Bedford in the Mounties’ final match of the regular season.

At 152 pounds, the Mounties’ Ty Laird matted Alex Kichman at the 1:45 mark. Nick Patrick followed at 160 with a fall of his own, pinning Dakota Brunner at 3:24. Levi Hughes (138 pounds) and Dakota Weitoish (145 pounds) earned major decisions.

Bryce Bennett (132 pounds) led the Mounties in takedowns, racking up seven in his technical fall victory over Tyler Wirth. Bennett added a pair of three-point near falls in his 20-5 win.

The Mounties next head to the District 6 Tournament on Feb. 27.
