Irwin leads State College girls’ basketball to win over Williamsport

The State College girls’ basketball team closed its regular season schedule with a 73-32 victory over Williamsport on Saturday afternoon.

Kyla Irwin had another big day, netting 34 points while Kayla Hawbaker added 16 and Abby Allen netted eight points for the Lady Little Lions (19-3).

Irwin has 186 points in her last five games, and 1,982 points for her career.

“We’re 19-3 and I don’t think many teams thought we’d be doing that this year,” coach Bethany Irwin said. “It’s a great tribute to this senior class. They have gelled so well and played so well together. Early in the year the rest of the team wasn’t seasoned, and they looked to Kyla a lot. At the end of the year it’s their season now and we’re getting better distribution of points.”

Jaynelle Robinson’s 24 points paced the Millionaires (10-11).
