St. Joe’s boys’ basketball team wins league title
Stephen and Shawn Beattie both had big days to lead St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy to a 74-54 win over Belleville Mennonite in the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship game Saturday at Greenwood High School.
Stephen Beattie scored a game-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, while his brother, Shawn, finished with 25. The Beatties combined for 11 3-pointers.
The Wolves outscored Belleville Mennonite 21-6 in the second quarter to take a five-point lead into halftime. St. Joseph’s then took a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Jack Mangene added 11 points for the Wolves.
St. Joseph’s (15-9) is set to face Portage at Tyrone High School in the first round of the District 6 Class A playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
