Irwin sets records in girls’ basketball all-star game

State College senior Kyla Irwin scored 27 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked six shots to help the Central PA All-Stars beat the Blair County All-Stars 79-72 Friday night in the Altoona Mirror Basketball Classic at Mount Aloysius College.

Irwin broke the scoring record, previously held by Altoona’s Kayla DeCriscio with 23 points, and tied the rebounding record for the game. The Connecticut-bound forward was named Most Valuable Player for the game.

Forest Hills’ Jill Scott added 11 points while Johnstown Christian’s Maddie Sprankle netted nine points. Claysburg-Kimmel’s Paige Burk netted 23 to lead the Blair County team.
