Penns Valley’s Andrus breaks school record in track and field win
Penns Valley sprinter Destiny Andrus edged out her own school record on Tuesday as the Lady Rams cruised to a 111-30 win over Bald Eagle Area.
Andrus ran a 12.2-second 100-meter dash, besting her previous record of 12.66 seconds (FAT time), to take a first-place finish in the event. She also won the 200-meter with a time of 25.8 seconds, and helped her 4x100 relay team to a first-place finish in 51.1 seconds.
BEA took home the team’s only first-place finishes in three field events, as Michaela Maynard won with a 31-foot shot put, Adazia Mellot won the discus with a 99-7 throw and Morgan Phillips took first place in the javelin throw with a distance of 85-3.
Both teams will compete in the Lock Haven Invitational on Friday.
