Collison, Penns Valley outlast Juniata in baseball

Chase Collison’s walk-off single lifted the Penns Valley baseball team to a 4-3 win over Juniata in 14 innings Wednesday.

The Rams led 3-2 after scoring three runs in the third inning. Juniata tied it with a run in the fourth, and neither team scored again until Collison’s RBI single.

Keith Butts and Allen Cain started the 14th inning with singles.

“That was the best pitching and defensive game I was ever involved in as a player or coach,” Penns Valley coach Jon Bowersox said. “Connor Dix pitched his heart out for nine innings.”

Penns Valley’s Lucas Sharer entered to pitch in the 10th inning and finished the game for the win.

Butts led the team with three singles, while Cain, Collison, Corby Woodring and Luke Snyder all had two hits.

“I used my entire roster to get this win, so they should all be proud,” Bowersox said, “It was a team effort.”

Penns Valley (4-6) will take on Bald Eagle Area on the road Thursday.
