State College softball edges Red Land
Hannah Shields twirled an 11-strikeout game, and State College held on to beat Red Land 4-3 on Thursday.
It was the Lady Little Lions’ sixth-straight one-run game. Coach Mike Harper’s team is 4-2 during the stretch.
“They hold it together real well when things get tight in the ball game,” Harper said.
Alyssa Shedlock hit a two-run double in the first and Abby Allen added a run-scoring single in the second. The Lady Patriots scored twice in the third to pull within one, but Shields settled in and piled up strikeouts as the game progressed.
State College (7-3) hosts Cedar Cliff on Tuesday.
