Little Lion boys’ tennis remains undefeated
State College stayed unbeaten heading into playoff action, defeating Mercersburg Academy 5-2 on Tuesday.
“The guys were challenged today at every position and some of them were able to make adjustments and execute the shots they needed at the right time,” State College coach Jane Borden said.
Nick Vanden and Fernando del Castillo recorded straight-set victories in singles for the Little Lions, with Vanden dropping Saamon Ghodsi 6-1, 6-2 and del Castillo edging Shayon Ghodsi 6-4, 6-0. In doubles, the Little Lions took the first three flights.
Matt Wherley dropped his match 6-1, 6-1 to Mercersburg’s Eliott Hick at No. 1 singles.
State College (14-0) heads to the District 6 Class AAA singles tournament on Friday in Altoona.
