Mifflin County scores extra-inning win over State College softball
Mifflin County scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning for a 7-2 victory over State College on Thursday.
The Lady Huskies, who scored a run in the top of the seventh to force the extra frame, did all the damage with two out in the eighth, stringing together six straight hits highlighted by a Taylor McKay two-run double, RBI singles for Maddie Amapacker and Darcy Wilson and a Hannah Ruby RBI double.
State College had an early lead when Abby Allen drew a one-out walk in the first and came around to score on a passed ball and two wild pitches. Kayla Hawbaker doubled in the third and scored on an error.
Alyssa Shedlock and Avery Cymbor were each 2 for 4 for the Lady Little Lions, who visit Bellefonte on Friday.
McKay had an RBI single in the fifth and singled and scored in the seventh on a Wilson groundout.
