State College tops Central Mountain in baseball
Gavin Schaefer-Hood pitched a complete game to lead State College to a 3-1 win over Central Mountain on Thursday.
Schaefer-Hood allowed one run and two hits while striking out four and walking one in seven innings.
Tucker Triebold went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Little Lions.
Central Mountain’s Cole Reeder took the loss.
State College earned the No. 3 seed and will face second-seeded Mifflin County in the first round of the District 6 Class AAAA playoffs at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Top-seeded Central Mountain will take on fourth-seeded Altoona at 4 p.m. Thursday.
In Class AAA, fifth-seeded Bellefonte faces fourth-seeded Greater Johnstown on the road at 4 p.m. Monday. The winner advances to take on top-seeded Somerset in the semifinals Thursday. No. 2 Hollidaysburg will face No. 3 Huntingdon in the other semifinal.
