State College blanks Bellefonte in softball

Avery Cymbor drove in two runs to help State College to a 3-0 win over Bellefonte on Thursday

Hannah Shields pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out six to earn the win for the Lady Little Lions.

Bellefonte’s Tara Baney allowed three hits and one run in five innings to take the loss.

State College is the No. 3 seed in the District 6-9 Class AAAA playoffs. The Lady Little Lions will play at second-seeded Central Mountain at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Fifth-seeded Altoona faces fourth-seeded DuBois at 4 p.m. Monday. The winner advances to face top-seeded Mifflin County.

In Class AAA, Bellefonte earned the top seed and a bye into the semifinals. The Lady Red Raiders will host either fifth-seeded Huntingdon or fourth-seeded Greater Johnstown at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Third-seeded Somerset faces sixth-seeded Hollidaysburg, with the winner advancing to take on No. 2 Bellwood-Antis.
