The next step in the road to a state championship for three Centre County diamond teams has been set.

The Bellefonte baseball and softball teams, and Philipsburg-Osceola softball, all have their itineraries for PIAA quarterfinal games Thursday.

The Red Raider baseball team plays Cathedral Prep of Erie at 3:30 p.m. at Slippery Rock University. The Ramblers beat Mars 13-2 in their first-round contest Monday, while Bellefonte topped Chartiers Valley 2-1.

The Lady Red Raiders will meet Yough at 3 p.m. at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson. Bellefonte dropped Mount Pleasant 3-2, while Yough defeated General McLane 11-1 Monday.

The Lady Mounties will face South Park at 4 p.m. at Somerset High School. P-O earned a dramatic victory Monday, rallying from a 5-0 deficit to beat Steel Valley 6-5 in eight innings. South Park defeated Northwestern 16-4.

If the area teams win two more games, they would play in the state championships on the Penn State campus on June 16.
