State College’s Mason Mellott named Centre Daily Times Male Athlete of the Spring season

State College baseball player Mason Mellott is the Centre Daily Times Male Athlete of the Spring Sports Season.

Mellott — who will play for Penn State next season — led the Little Lions to the PIAA Class 6A semifinals thanks to a stellar postseason run. He had a 3-1 record throwing 22 1/3 innings, allowing just five runs and recording 41 strikeouts in that span.

For the season, Mellott was 5-5 with a 2.04 ERA, 78 strikeouts and 28 walks.
