Penns Valley’s Dillon Covalt named CDT Athlete of the Week

Penns Valley’s Dillon Covalt is the Centre Daily Times’ Male Athlete of the Week.

The Rams’ junior wrestler was just about perfect this past week, going 7-0 as an individual while collecting four falls, one decision and two wins by forfeit.

At 220 pounds, he was 5-0 at the Juniata Duals on Saturday — with pins against Susquehannah Township’s Troy Ambush (4:50), Trinity’s Max McMurray (5:35) and Selinsgrove’s Aaron Hoke (1:49). Against Bellefonte earlier in the week, he pinned Andrew Davidson in 3:04.

And, when his team needed him to step up at 285 pounds, he even did that too. Covalt earned a 4-1 decision at heavyweight against Hollidaysburg on Thursday.
